Grant Park, Portland, Oregon

Grant Park is a neighborhood and park in the Northeast section of Portland, Oregon.
The neighborhood is bordered by Alameda and Beaumont-Wilshire to the north; Rose City Park to the east; Hollywood District, Laurelhurst, and Sullivan's Gulch to the south; and Irvington to the west.
It is best known as the setting for Beverly Cleary's Klickitat Street series of books. Houses in the neighborhood generally date to the nineteen twenties and early thirties, and are primarily of the Old Portland or Craftsman styles. Grant Park is only a few blocks away from Klickitat Street, the fictional home of the characters.
The park, honoring President (and former Vancouver, Washington resident) Ulysses S. Grant, was acquired by the city in 1922. The park is contiguous with the grounds of Grant High School, and is 19.9 acres in size. Amenities include a large playground, dog park, athletic fields, walking paths, picnic facilities and tennis courts.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.portlandoregon.gov/parks/finder/index.cfm?action=ViewPark&ShowResults=yes&PropertyID=167 )
== Beverly Cleary Sculpture Garden for Children ==

The Beverly Cleary Sculpture Garden for Children was dedicated in the park on October 13, 1995.〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.oregonencyclopedia.org/articles/beverly_cleary_sculpture_garden/#.VA_8SEiLFrE )〕 Funded by donations from Cleary fans, the park was built by the Friends of Henry and Ramona. It includes life-sized renditions by local sculptor Lee Hunt of three Cleary characters: Ramona Quimby, Henry Huggins, and Ribsy (Henry's dog). The life-sized sculptures were created using vintage clothes on wax models to create a realistic feel. The sculpture of Ramona is dressed in raincoat and boots, with a joyous expression, and is positioned such that she splashes in the garden's fountain. Granite tiles placed around the sculptures are inscribed with quotes from Cleary's most famous books.
